A hero must preserve harmony... at any cost.

Kudos to :iconiamcaptainman: for giving me this idea originally.
Surprising how one stray comment can lead to something like this. Then again, I'm pretty susceptible to inception... apparently...

Tell princess what risk empire to test her student and never bother to help and protect heroes from danger, she may not be element of harmony any longer, but she have power what heroes do not and yet she do not use it any longer, Celestia is not a hero in my book and will not be unless she start to use her power to protect her subjects.

The new elements were to be tested, and in the comics, she did save Canterlot from an attack by huge magical cocatrices.

The Vulcan was only right because the few was him. Celestia forced the sacrifice on another, who was confirmed to have been an innocent. If anything, Luna is a hero for giving up everything to hold off the possession.

There is only one situation where Celestia can walk away from this as an innocent. If Luna was begging for the banishment to avoid hurting her friends (we know she was possessed) and Celestia's "reasoning with her" was actually hesitation to banish her, then she is not a monster, but an agent of mercy.

There is still the question of the ruins where Luna's throne was, however. If this was true, the forest would not exist, and the ruins would only be another part of Equestria. After all, an agent of mercy could never let the ponies there die. We can conclude that it was destroyed in the conflict. Luna would never destroy her own castle. Even in Celestia's side of the story, Luna cared too much about herself to do so. We have two possibilities. Either that was a hole in the story and Nightmare Moon destroyed it to make the real Luna more submissive, or Celestia destroyed the entire place as punishment and Everfree is actually the result of a fatal surge of magic.

We also know Celestia never actually apologized for what happened, as anyone with even the slightest hint of remorse would do.Even if she had no choice, she would still have apologized if she meant well. Either she is too proud to admit it, or the tears are all an act.

Besides, Celestia is confirmed to be weaker then Nightmare Moon was. This sure has to have some reason. History is written by the victors. We can not clearly confirm that eternal night would be a bad thing in Equestria as Equestria doesn't follow the same rules like our world.

Also, Celestia was sudenly able to wield ALL of the 6 elements while she used them with her sister together before. One possible explanation is that Luna passed those powers on to Celestia so she CAN win.

After all we know Celestia was everything but a hero. She played with ponies like with figures on a board game for reasons nobody understands. Even her own sister was in doubt whether it was a wise decision to send Twilight Sparkle and her friends to the Crystal Empire instead of just going there herself or sending Luna. If you think about her reaction both of them would probably easily beat Sombra once again. After all she tested Twilight Sparkle to make her an alicorn, which was actually HER plan for her, not Twilights will.

PS: I am no Celestia-Hater. I really like her. And I tend to see her as "victim of destiny", but not as a hero. And I bet she wouldn't banish Luna again.
